CEO Update from Sarah LewisPosted on: March 9th - 2021
|I’ve been Chief Executive at Langley Park Learning Trust since January and I applied for this role because I was drawn to the values of the Trust and its schools – delivering that really excellent education that opens doors, whilst also prioritising children’s wellbeing and wider development. It’s summed up by our Trust’s mission – to “provide an excellent education for every child at every stage and to ensure that children leave our schools as confident, articulate and well-rounded young people”.|
I was also interested in the opportunity to bring together five schools and create a sense of team and partnership, where all staff and all pupils really benefit from being part of this Trust. For me, that includes staff development so that our people feel supported in developing their careers; ensuring a supportive culture that delivers manageable workloads; sharing learning on what works and what doesn’t; and making sure our pupils can benefit from wider opportunities as a result of being part of a partnership of five schools.
It’s certainly been an interesting time to start and I’ve most missed being able to meet people face-to-face and being able to see the schools as they would normally be. However, I’ve been meeting the Heads regularly and have started to meet other staff – almost all virtually so far. I’ve also been attending school governing body meetings and I have seen evidence of the fantastic remote education that is going on across our five schools. Then since 8th March, it’s been great to see the return of all children to school going so brilliantly.
In the meantime, key priorities for the Trust over the coming months include supporting the safe return to school of all our staff and pupils; finalising plans for investing in our school buildings over the next academic year; and developing plans for our high quality CPD offer across the Trust, so that we prioritise investing in the people who make everything happen.
